Auto Assembly Spam Attack – Final Update

Hi everyone,

We want to thank all of you for your patience over the last week or so while many of you have had to deal with the unwanted and intrusive spam emails that have appeared to have come from one of the Auto Assembly email addresses. These emails, originating in China, have been distressing for many of you and we can’t apologise enough for the inconvenience this has caused for all of you.

We’ve been working hard to try to resolve this as best as we can from this end and monitoring the situation constantly and while the emails themselves have been out of our control having been sent from an automated system using our address as a fake return address, we are pleased to announce that these emails now appear to have ceased as the spam attackers have moved onto another stolen mailing list as usually is the case with attacks of this nature.

What this means for all of our attendees – past and present – is that we are now able to resume normal email service and we’ll be emailing all of the Auto Assembly 2014 attendees shortly with some great convention updates. For those of you have booked recently, we’ll be sending out the remaining confirmation emails starting from this afternoon. As we have said before, one thing we do want to reassure all of you who have been affected by this is that no-one’s financial details have been compromised during this time as all our payments and bookings are processed securely via PayPal and any bookings made prior to and during the time of this attack have been 100% safe.

Thanks again for your patience and we’re looking forward to seeing you all in August!

Simon Plumbe
Auto Assembly Committee Head
